Main scripture ignored by JWs (and there is no argument to this)
Do not try and take the speck out of someone else's eye when you have a plank in your own!!
Also
Treat others how you would like to be treated
just about all of them; far too many to post!.

the meetings used to be three times a week and totalled five hours.. the public talk on a sunday was reduced from one hour to three quarters of an hour whilst we were still attending and then following our fade we were aware that the tuesday night group book study was stopped.. does this now mean the meetings total three and three quarter hours?.
my husband was asking me this morning and i wasn't sure so wondered if anyone can help me out here.. thanks.. li.
Thanks, is there any reason given as to why the meetings are getting shorter? I know it is better for everyone as no-one can concentrate for that lenghth of time anyway.

i came up with a new game today - certainly made the meeting pass by quickly.
before the meeting i edited all the elders and servants mobile numbers on my phone so that they would'nt get the caller id up(141 in uk).
then, during the meeting i called them all one at a time.
Cook my Socks, I just read your post and then told my husband , we now both ache from laughing to much. It's the sort of thing we would have done if we had thought of it.
We are still laughing now, brilliant!!

i wish this weren't the way i greeted the board.
i've been lurking here for about 2 years now, but was unable to really interact because of limitations of my ipod browser (you can't post from there) and the parental controls on my computer.. .
well 2 years later, i'm a big boy, turned 18 and moved out.
Welcome I think you have made another great move since moving out and that is enrolling on this site. For me, it is the final stage of our (husband and me) healing but I know it would have helped so much more if I had discovered this site sooner.
I have read many, many stories and advice on all sorts of things relating to (ex)witnesses which I only wished I had known sooner.
My husband was always treated like a leper in our KH. Therefore, when I started attending with him when I met him in 2003 I thought it was because of me but he assured me he had always been treated like that. It seemed like everyone else there was in the "in" crowd but since reading posts on this site it seems rarer to be one of the "in crowd" than I thought.
Please keep your chin up and talk to all your new friends on this site

if so - without divulging any names , approximately how much was donated to the wt society ?
if you are aware of approximate amounts.
as many know the wt society yearly puts out calls in their publications for witnesses to donate trust funds, wills, inheritances, estates, jewelry, cars and whatever else they have to promote the aleged " kingdom interests " in furthering the " good news " around the world.. personally i feel it's all been a scam to continue exercising control over witnesses by influencing them to financially deprive themselves so the wt society can continue it's operations.
Thanks St. George
Any idea how many charities they have?
As well as this one have found other funds under Bible Students as well as individual KHs.

ok, i need some advice.
i'm technically inactive, as many of you know, with obvious apostate leanings that via gossip in the congregation has me shunned by most.. recently at work somebody asked me what religion i am.
i was taken aback and instinctively answered, "jehovah's witness," then quickly added "but i'm inactive.
I noticed that if anyone ever asked us our religion when we were still attending my husband always replied "Christian", he never ever said JW.
In case, you don't know, he was raised in it since around the age of 3, df around 16 years of age for associating with his parents! Reinstated many years later by his mother's interference with the local congregation despite living 120 miles away from her! We have now moved 150 miles from the KH we used to attend but gradually faded from. We told no-one apart from our immediate next door neighbour that we were moving.
I think his mother may be interfering again though as when we visited her last Sunday (we are now 150 miles away from her) the wife of the Elder of our old congegation phoned and she was distinctly uncomfortable with us being there!
Incidentally, my husband is 52 years of age!

my husband was brought up in the faith since around the age of three years old.. he stopped believing their crap when he was a teenager and indeed didn't attend for many years.
however, even though he moved over 100 miles away from his parents his mother visited him and got the local congregation to put pressure on him.
she also telephoned and wrote to him regularly to make sure he attended.. his parents in the past have been treated very badly by the jws (long story) but they are still in the thick of it despite being in their eighties.. my husband thinks that because his mother converted she could never admit that she is wrong and for this reason will not stop attending.. just wondered what others thought on the subject?.
I suppose if someone had asked me I would have thought that more born ins leave. Possibly because as a child they would have missed out on so much and would not wish this on their children. My husband said he has never wanted children because of the upbringing he had.
Also, I also thought that if someone had converted it was their own choice and would have done so as an adult. 3Mozzies may well have a point though in that born ins may be more brainwashed whereas a convert would have knowledge of what life was like beforehand.
However, some interesting thoughts here, thank you.

Wow, thanks for all your interesting replies.
I only attended for six years with my husband and thankfully was never baptised - he wouldn't let me.

However, we haven't attended now for around 2 years and have moved 150 miles away from the KH we attended but we think MIL may be on the warpath again!
